23/11/2022: The asbestos certificate becomes mandatory for the transfer of ownership (between living parties) of any building constructed in 2000 or earlier.
This also applies when transferring or establishing a right of usufruct, leasehold, building right, or right of use.

01/05/2025: The asbestos certificate for communly used areas with only one owner (gemeenschappelijk gebruikte delen) becomes manadatory
01/01/2027: The asbestos certificate for shared/common areas (gemene delen) becomes mandatory in general — even without a sale or transfer.
2032: Every building owner of a structure built in 2000 or earlier must possess an asbestos inventory and the corresponding certificate.
2034: The most hazardous asbestos applications must be removed from Flemish government buildings.
